APRIL
19 – 23 Barakula - CFNC/Toowoomba FNC combined outing. Leader: F Truscott and Ben Gundry of TFNC. Proposed itinerary:
DAY 1 THURSDAY 20 APRIL (Full day)
• Depart Chinchilla at 8 a.m.
• Barakula Office and Wongongera yards via P10.
• Aboriginal hand prints and Spotted Gum Scientific area via P10 and P4.
• Waaje wildflower area. While very little will be in flower, we might see Acacia barakulensis(V), Eucalyptus pachycalyx subsp. waajensis (E), Homoranthus decumbens (V), Micromyrtus patula (E), Calytrix gurulmundensis (V), Tree Dampiera Dampiera discolour, Woollybark Eucalyptus rubiginosa and lots more. There is an interesting open rocky area there as well. (Point out Auburn Range departure – junction of Fitzroy, Murray-Darling and Burnett catchments.)
• Waaje wildflower to Waaje Firetower area via Range Traverse.
• Towards home via Compartment 10 Mudwall Logging Area to look at Grevillea singuliflora and Cypress Pine area.
• Quick stop (if time permits) at The Mudwall.
• Home via Big Break and Auburn Road.
DAY 2 FRIDAY 21 APRIL (Short day)
• Depart Chinchilla at 8 am. To Nangram Lagoon via Chinchilla-Tara Road and Condamine-Kogan Road. Arrive about 9 am.
• Visit a corduroyed section of the old Condamine Road.
• Home.
• CFNC meeting at CWA. TFNC members are invited. Meet at the CWA at 5.30. We are having fish and chips and will need to know what people want to have the order in by lunchtime Friday. Please let Truscotts know ASAP if you are coming. 46689054 or mongrove@bigpond.com
• Program for the night will be Terry Rayner with his bird slides and possibly Dr Robert Raven from the Qld Museum to give a presentation on spiders.
DAY 3 SATURDAY 22 APRIL (Full day)
• Depart Chinchilla at 8 am.
• To Simon’s Mill.
• Acacia handonis site? If time allows.
• To Ballon Forest camp and Durah Creek waterhole – morning tea?
• To Stockyard Creek internee camp and aboriginal site.
• To Turkey Mountain.
• Kapunn Scrub.
• Home via Peanga, Stockyard and Auburn Roads. (Stockyard Lagoon if time allows?)
DAY 4 SUNDAY 23 APRIL (Short day)
• Depart Chinchilla at 8 am.
• Heather Mason’s garden – birdwatching – time depends on what is there. Morning tea?
• Chinchilla Weir - birdwatching. Morning tea?
• Chinchilla Museum for visit and lunch.
• Home after lunch.
• Dinner with the Toowoomba Field Nats at the Chinchilla Tourist Park – all invited – TFNC is cooking so we will need to give them numbers by Saturday at the latest. Please let Truscotts know ASAP if you are coming. 46689054 or mongrove@bigpond.com
MAY
20 MANAGEMENT MEETING 6 pm
GENERAL MEETING at 7.30 pm. We will start on Western Australian ANN 2016 slides. Please bring them on a stick, sorted and, if possible, labelled.
JUNE 24-27. Our outing is to Yuleba Creek area. We will be camping at “Litani”. Venues may include “Litani”, “Pialaway”, Yuleba State Forest, Myall Park and Eringibba National Park.

JULY 22 The club is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a camp oven lunch at the Chinchilla Museum. If you are an ex-member of the club, please contact us for details. We would be thrilled to have you share the day with us.
